"Zombie" is a protest song by Irish alternative rock band the Cranberries. It was written by the lead singer, Dolores O'Riordan, about the young victims of a bombing in Warrington, England, during the Troubles in Northern Ireland. The bombings happened on 30 March 1993, as two IRA improvised explosive devices hidden in litter bins were detonated in a shopping street in Warrington, England. Two people; Johnathan Ball, aged 3, and Tim Parry, aged 12, were killed in the attack. 56 people were injured. Ball died at the scene of the bombing as a result of his shrapnel-inflicted injuries, and five days later, Parry lost his life in a hospital as a result of head injuries. O'Riordan decided to write a song that reflected upon the event and the children's deaths after visiting the town.

This song is just amazing. The singer, the recently lost Dolores O'Riordan, sings in a traditional Irish style. When this song came out it blew everybody's mind by the music, lyrics, message and style. RIP Dolores!

Cocteau Twins' singer Liz Fraser sings in gibberish lingo and also lisa Gerrard (Dead Can Dance) but this italian guy was far ahead of everyone else doing some sort of rapping more than 50 years ago - too lazy to learn a new language he decided sounding like english was enough for xenophile Italians - in fact it went top 10 in Italy, France, Germany and Belgium and a massive success all over Europe.

Though I believe that they don't cop to it, it's pretty apparent that this song is about offing onerself. Obviously the reaper is the grim reaper. They continuously say not to fear him/her/it. Romeo and Juliet are together in eternity. They didn't live long and happy lives to reach eternity. If I remember correctly, Juliet was only 13 and Romeo was 14 when they committed suicide. If you're skeeved out by the subject matter, just do what everybody else does and pay attention to the kick-ass music.
